چکیده

Effective water and nitrogen (N) management strategies are critical for sustainable agricultural development. Lysimeter experiments with two deep percolation rates (low high percolation, i.e., LP HP: 3 mm d−1 5 d−1) five N application levels (N0~N4: 0, 60, 135, 210 285 kg ha−1) were conducted to investigate the effects of controlled drainage on productivity (WP) use efficiency (NUE) in water-saving irrigated paddy fields. The results demonstrated that NH4+-N NO3−-N major components total (TN) ponded leachate, accounting more than 77.1% 83.6% TN, respectively. risk leaching loss increased significantly under treatment or levels. High required greater irrigation input, thus reducing WP. In addition, uptake increasing application, but fertilization applied excess crop demand had a negative effect grain yield. NUE was affected by amount decreasing Water significant rice, their interaction not significant. For HP regimes, highest WP obtained ha−1 ha−1, Our overall suggested combination feasible mitigation strategy reduce losses through subdrainage provide nutrients available rice improve NUE, diffuse pollution. Long-term field trials necessary validate lysimeter results.

Effect of Water and Nitrogen Management on Water Productivity and Nitrogen Use Efficiency of Wheat in a Semi-arid Environment

A field experiment was carried out during 2009-11 on a sandy loam soil of IARI, New Delhi on wheat with four levels of irrigation (rainfed, irrigations to replenish 30, 60 and 100% moisture deficit from field capacity) as main plot factors and four levels of nitrogen (0, 30, 60 and 120 kg N/ha) as subplot factors in a split plot design. The soil moisture storage in the profile showed inverse re...

Maize response to water, salinity and nitrogen levels: yield-water relation, water-use efficiency and water uptake reduction function

Water, salinity and nitrogen are the major factors affecting maize production in arid and semi-arid areas. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of different water, salinity and nitrogen levels on yield-water relationships, water use, water productivity (WP), water use efficiency (WUE) and water uptake reduction function by maize hybrid SC-704 in a semi-arid area and ...

Effect of nitrogen supplying sources on nitrogen use efficiency in rice (Oryza sativa L. cv. Shiroudi)

The use of nitrogen fertilizer has a key role in enhancing agricultural productivity worldwide. In order to achieve an effective approach to enhance nitrogen use efficiency in rice, a field experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design with three replications and 13 treatments on Shiroudi, a high yielding rice cultivar in Rice Research Institute of Iran (Amol) in 2015 and 2016....

Agroecosystems, nitrogen-use efficiency, and nitrogen management.

The global challenge of meeting increased food demand and protecting environmental quality will be won or lost in cropping systems that produce maize, rice, and wheat. Achieving synchrony between N supply and crop demand without excess or deficiency is the key to optimizing trade-offs amongst yield, profit, and environmental protection in both large-scale systems in developed countries and smal...
